What to know about no-dig pipe repairs

Paul Faillace September 28, 2024 Reviews Leave a Comment

There are a variety of ways that drains can be cleaned, maintained and repaired. If your pipework is leaking and needs to be relined, the no-dig approach may be the least disruptive choice.

Common drainage problems

Sometimes drains become blocked. Other times, they develop leaks. You may not notice a problem until it starts to affect your kitchen or bathroom.

A CCTV drain survey Coventry, like those available at wilkinson-env.co.uk/drainage-services-cctv-surveys-midlands/cctv-drain-surveys/cctv-drain-surveys-coventry/, can help you identify the source of the problem so you can plan the most effective way to repair it. You may also want to have a regular drain survey even if you have not detected any problems, allowing you to spot the early signs of corrosion before they develop into a full-blown leak.

What are no-dig pipe repairs?

No-dig pipe repairs are those that do not require the uprooting or replacing of the entire pipe network

Instead, chemicals are injected into the pipe through a narrow access point. An inner tube is inserted to allow water or air to inflate the pipe and fix it in place whilst a liner is introduced. The liner will become hard, sealing the inside of the pipe. The inner tube is removed and the liner is left to maintain the pipe’s integrity, ensuring that the pipe is smooth and free from leaks.

What are the advantages?

A liner can be inserted without having to dig up your patio or driveway, and without leaving excess soil that needs to be removed. It can all take place quickly and cheaply, often being finished within a day whilst you continue your regular routine with the minimum of disruption. The straight-through nature of the liner, which does not have any joins, reduces the risk that tree branches will be able to insert themselves into the pipe and cause additional damage.

If your pipes are leaking but you do not want to have to dig up or replace your entire drainage network, then no-dig repair may be the quickest and most effective option. A CCTV drain survey may help you plan the repair process.
