Five Types of Wireless Call Buttons

Paul Faillace April 11, 2025 Technology Leave a Comment

Call buttons are, by design, meant to be simple devices. They have to be accessible to vulnerable people in an emergency. There are, however, still different types of buttons to choose between, depending on the specific needs of the individual.

Wireless call buttons, such as those available at www.dinggly.com/products/wireless-call-buttons, are an alternative to those traditional models that plug into a main power socket and which have cables that present a trip hazard. They can be divided into the following subcategories:

  • Call Point to pager kit
  • Pendant to pager kit
  • Hospital in home range

SOS buttons

These are portable, battery-powered devices that can easily be carried and relocated as needed. You can attach one to a wall, hang it on a lanyard or even just tuck it into your pocket for maximum convenience.

Wristband alarm transmitters

The button is incorporated into a device on a strap that is fastened around your wrist like a watch. These transmitters are difficult to lose, regardless of where you go or what you do. They also tend to be waterproof, making them ideal when swimming or bathing.

Call Point to pager kit

This button is usually mounted on a wall. When pressed, it sends a signal to a specific pager. These types of buttons are most often found in larger residential facilities, where there may be multiple call points to serve different users in different areas of the building.

Pendant to pager kit

Again, the signal is sent to a pager, but this time the button is worn around the neck like a necklace. This ties it to an individual person and makes it harder to lose. The pager that receives the message also belongs to a specific carer.

Hospital in home range

This is a more complex system that attempts to replicate the wider range of functions and services provided by a hospital, including multiple pagers and call points as well as additional features such as fall detection or bed exit sensors to provide further support.

Understanding the range of different wireless call buttons on offer will enable you to make a more informed choice about which is most suitable for your specific situation.
