The benefits of pipe relining

Excavations can be costly, time-consuming, and damaging, especially if your sewer lines are underneath your driveway, pavements, landscaping, trees, or other outdoor features. The collateral damage can be extensive but could be avoided.

Sewage pipe repairs such as this may be covered by your insurance and so you should check this if you believe you have an issue. You should also check who is responsible for the repairs, depending on the location. You can learn more about this on the Citizens Advice website.

Types of sewer pipe relining

If you’re looking for sewer pipe lining Solihull or elsewhere, you will find specialist companies such as wilkinson-env.co.uk/sewer-repairs-drain-lining-concrete-cutting/drain-repairs/drain-repairs-solihull. The following are some of the methods they could use to solve your sewerage issues.

1.      CIPP or cured in place pipe lining

This is one of the most commonly used methods to preserve pipes and can increase lifespan by up to a century.

2. Pull-in place

This is often used for larger cracks and uses heat to fix an epoxy-saturated liner. This is then pulled into the correct position.

3.      Pipe bursting

Severely damaged pipes may be repaired using this method. The old pipe is broken apart using hydraulic power and seamless plastic piping is drawn into place. This should resist root intrusion for up to a century.

4.      Sliplining

This is one of the most established and oldest methods used for trenchless pipe repairs. Sliplining is the process of installing a carrier pipe into a larger host pipe, before grouting the space between the pipes and sealing up the end. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is often used but PVC and fibreglass-reinforced pipe (FRP) could also be chosen.

5.      Internal pipe coating

Professional contactors can coat existing sewer pipes with a thick epoxy material. This is sprayed on to permanently seal cracks and breaks.
